How to add a new Post in WordPress

Adding A New Post in WordPress

  1. Log in to the WordPress backend

    Using your WordPress credentials, log in to your WordPress backend. By default, the WordPress backend can be accessed using https://example.com/wp-admin.
    Once you have successfully logged in, you will be redirected to the WordPress dashboard.
    On the left-hand side, you will see all the menu items related to the management of your WordPress website.

  2. Click on the “Add New” posts sub-menu item under the “Posts” menu.

    From the left-hand side menu, hover over the Posts menu item, a sub-menu will open, and click on the “Add New” button.

  3. Add the Title of the post

    You will be redirected to the Block editor version of the page where you can add the content and the title of the post.
    Add your post’s title in the Add Title section.

  4. Add content and images

    Below the title section is where you can add content. The new block editor lets you choose what type of content you want to add and how you want to display it.
    To make full use of the block editor we suggest that you click on the plus icon on the right-hand side.
    Choose the type of block you want and add the necessary content to it.

  5. Select a Category

    On your right-hand side, you will be shown a sidebar in which you can select multiple properties and parameters for your post.
    There are two tabs in the sidebar by default, Post and Block.
    Toggle the Post tab and find the Categories dropdown, select the appropriate Category from the list, if you do not have any categories, you can create on using the “Add New Category” link.

  6. Add relevant tags

    Adding tags to your posts is important to properly organize the post into archives.
    On the right-hand sidebar find the Tags dropdown and in the field shown below type the tag you want to select for the post.
    If the tag already exists it will show as an option, if not you can press enter and it will create the tag.

  7. Click on Publish
